Deepak Chopra has been an influential figure in the alternative health movement and an accomplished medical, alternative practitioner. His most important novels are Timeless Mind, Ageless Body and The Seven Spiritual Laws of Success, every printed in 1994 and 1993 respectively. However, it was not till sometime in the late eighties that he ventured into the realm of self-help writing, together with his first book, Think and Grow Rich.
Though a controversial figure who presents himself as a guru, his books attract a wide range of readers. The principles he boosts have had the effect of establishing him as a leader in the other self-improvement circles. But, there have always been critics who question the methods he adopts. Deepak Chopra critics claim he takes a haphazard approach to self-improvement through motivational saying and self explanatory books. They also point out that his teachings contradict the common belief that knowledge alone will lead to self-improvement.
Deepak Chopra’s method of attaining personal development isn’t far removed from other alternative medicine practices. His basic assumption is that one can achieve a state of personal growth by fostering positive believing in oneself and boosting one’s self-confidence level. By applying such teachings as the eight-limbed ladder of self-help, one is able to attain self-actualization, which in turn results in the accomplishment of the goals set by the mind. As such, Deepak Chopra presents himself as a prominent figure within the alternative medicine community.
However, this doesn’t necessarily mean Deepak Chopra’s influence goes beyond the boundaries of alternative medicine. He is still very much a part of the mainstream health care community. For example, when he wrote the book, The Seven Habits of Highly Effective People, he used the book to launch an initiative for the United States Army. The book was later turned into a television series and now has over one million copies in print. There’s even a picture version of the book available on DVD.
Additionally, Deepak Chopra continues to hold many credentials outside of the classroom. For example, he’s the author of numerous medical books and is a certified chiropractic physician. In addition, Deepak Chopra is a former contestant on the reality TV show”Survivor.” In this series, he was depicted as a contestant who struggled with a serious heart condition. Because of this, he held many discussions about improving one’s self-health through diet books, seminars, and speaking engagements.
One of the things that Chopra’s talk radio shows speech is self-improvement. Many of his books and videos address this matter. He discusses how to use the power of the mind to address some of the difficulties we encounter in our lives. By way of instance, he spoke about the need to change our negative mindset. According to Chopra, if we continue to think that way, then we will remain stuck in our misery.
However, some people might wonder whether there is any validity to the idea of motivational self-improvement. In answer to this question, the answer is that while the idea of self-improvement may be new to most people, self-help in general is a relatively long tradition. Many ancient philosophies, religious texts, and motivational speakers have addressed the dilemma of self-improvement. The majority of these have also tried to make sense of the concept of self-improvement and motivation.
For example, some of the top speakers will address issues such as self-esteem, confidence, motivation, and perseverance. All these are important and may contribute to our overall happiness and well-being. What many speakers do is highlight that there are a number of ways to approach self-improvement. They encourage us to think about what it means to be motivated. As they state,”motivation starts with a desire to change.”
